Cpanel 7 has been released with many new features including /tmp being mounted with noexec which will greatly help in keep boxes from being compromised. Also, Xskin is now integrated into cpanel...

In WHM, one of the sections is titled "cpanel 6". One of the options in this section is "upgrade now" (or similar wording), that'll update cpanel to the latest version of the tree you set in the uppermost section under "update preferences". As of now, only edge tree has 7.x, stable and release are still 6.x. You can BTW set in update preferences that it updates automatically, I set it to auto-update stable tree, meaning the update script runs every night and if it finds a newer stable cpanel version it updates. This also ensures that all new system components are installed within 24 hours.

Thanks Zoltan
I did the updated earlier
and it crashed some services.
Tech support is helping me out now.
I knew I should have waited :(

I guess it was Apache crashing because of glibc, right? I had that prob too yesterday and they fixed it in a couple of hours.
This shouldn't discourage you from using the updater tool however - in nearly a year, this is the first time such a crash occured as a result of a cpanel update (I have to say though that on my other server the RHN up2date tool didn't do such a thing not even once, in about 2 years).

Yes glib.
I will wait for stable release before I try that again

We have updates off unless we are monitoring.
In nearly a year we have been alerted at not the best moments of
apache broken
exim broken
antivirus broken
and some other issues because of automatic updates, same goes for edge Upgrades of Cpanel, never run edge unless you really need a security fix or something is broken which can be fixed with an edge release.
I think a few are having some troubles with Cpanel 7 and exim.
You can change the time that update runs, personally I prefer to visit the www.cpanel.net (http://www.cpanel.net) forums each day and read the latest posts before running any updates.
This latest fiasco was indeed the glibc modules which had to be forced re-installed to get apache to run, our newest server went down without notice and took an hour to get the info needed to restore service.

best of luck.

Trust me

How about the software updates.
Under software in WHM:
Update Server Software
Update System Software
Update Backend Scripts
Are these recommended?

Best Advice from Bradco
run
/scripts/rpmup
we have ran this on all servers, obviously it will overcome the glibc error in apache as well.
